Aiding the Spirits

Jocasta quickly closed the distance to the fallen woman, belt in a position ready to strike. She stomped on the woman's hand, making sure that the nastiest knife was definitely out of play. She eyed the woman for any movement.

Myrddin looked around to see if anything else unexpected was happening. He was anxious, and not keen to find anything else out of place. First, flames leaped from the run-down building, then a stranger managed to sneak up on them and behave most bafflingly before getting struck seemingly out of nowhere by an arrow. He looked back at the building behind him and he slowly walked towards the prostrate form of Ashera. Wordlessly, he bent over and started checking to see if she was okay.

The woman lay on the ground unmoving, presumably unconscious. A figure holding a bow could be seen running up the road, calling out:
"Sorry I'm late!" Amy cried, "I had to wait until Thom was asleep...though I guess he'd already told them where you went..."

Ashera lay still on the ground, a long gash on her arm bleeding freely. Her eyes were closed and her breathing slow and shallow. There was a small cut on her left temple from where it had hit the ground.

Upon recognizing Amy, Galileo turned his attention to Ashera. He looked at Myrddin. "I'm going to need your help with her," He said, as he pulled some cloth from a belt pouch and attempted to staunch the bleeding on her arm.

Myrddin nodded at Galileo's request before raising his hand to his forehead and closing his eyes. "Yeah," he said, "just... just gimme a sec." His breathing slowed to a less elevated pace shortly and he looked more closely at Ashera's head wound. "Uh... yeah, staunch the bleeding from her arm, that's good, but... I'm more worried about this." He said, pointing to her temple. "Umm..." He looked around the ground, searching for what had cut Ashera's head, hoping to see some sharp edge had caught her head, but fearful of the possibility of it being from a hard impact with a rock. "I'd imagine your eyes are better than mine," he said to Galileo, "see if you can find any sign of what caused her head injury."

Near where Ashera's head had been laying on the ground was a sharp looking ridge in the grass. There was a small amount of blood on it.

Though the pressure from the cloth was helping to slow the bleeding it still continued, slowly saturating the cloth.

"Wait, never mind, I think I found it" Myrddin said to Galileo before he could respond. He reached his hand out to feel the surface of the ground, trying to tell what it was Ashera had hit her head on. "You might want to get another cloth out to cover that one up; don't remove it. Also, lift her arm up."

Jocasta used her belt to bind the hands of the assassin, not having any other rope on her. She retrieved her sword and walked back over to Ashera and the others. Crouching down beside the fallen girl, she asked, "What's the damage?"

"large cut on her arm, smaller one on her neck, and she git her head on the way down." Galileo said, not looking up. He wrapped a length of cloth around the already blood soaked one, keeping the pressure on. He rested her arm on his leg to raise it a bit, and leaned in to examine her other wounds.

Myrddin found a small sharp stone laying in the grass, a single sharp point in the otherwise soft surrounding. The pressure and elevation slowed the bleeding even more, though did not stop it entirely. Thought the wounds on her head and neck had bled a bit to begin with, it seemed as though they were fairly shallow and had stopped on their own. There was a minor amount of bruising around the cut on her head.
Amy watched the group work for a moment before blurting out, "you guys are adventurers right? Don't you have medicine or something to help her?"

"Most of my supplies are for your average cuts and bruising," Galileo replied. "and what medicine I have requires you to be awake to take it." He looked up at her. "If you would happen to have anything that could help a bit more with the bleeding here, I'm all ears." He pulled out a small container of salve and dabbed some on the cut and bruising on Asher's head.

Myrddin pointed to Ashera's bag without looking away from her head injury. "Look in there. She's a healer; see if she's got any Slanea leaves or Parnassus berries. If you don't know what those are, just bring the bag over here."

Galileo stopped dead for a moment. "Yes, it would make sense for the healer to be carrying healing supplies." He gingerly removed her bag and handed it off to Myrddin. "Here, it'll probably be faster if you take a look."

Upon opening the bag Myrddin found a neatly organised array of vials and pouches, as well as a small section of the bag that appeared to be locked. Upon closer inspection Myrddin could see the names of the plants engraved into the leather pouches. Slanea was one of the first pouches. Inside were many small dried leaves. In a small vial Myrddin also found a purple-blue paste.

There was a creaking noise as the door to the small house started to open.

Myrddin ignored the sound of the door, assuming someone else would deal with it. "Oh good, they're both here." He said as he pulled the medicines in question from Ashera's bag. Without wasting any time, he went about pressing the leaves into the wound on Ashera's arm.

Within a few minutes the bleeding slowed to a stop.

Galileo had his attention on the door.

Seeing that Ashera was being looked after, Jocasta double-checked that her belt would hold the hostage-taker. She turned to face the door as it creaked open, picking up sword and scabbard in one hand and pulling the sword out an inch or so.

"I sincerely hope you don't have anything to do with the woman we've trussed up on the ground here," said Jocasta, her voice casual with a slight edge.

"Please don't hurt us!" Called the voice from before, "I thought you were with her!"

The door opened to reveal an older man, his clothing slightly worn but not disheveled. He looked haggard, with bags under his eyes and his hair a mess.
